the stars have stopped arriving and yet he chants in the darkness a pilgrim yearning salvation
smoke seeps from skin midnight the body is on fire with memories of another age
with every toll of the bell rain buries an empire beneath secrets
end of the path pilgrims blossom in screams
hatched a pair of thunderbirds in my dream each wearing a robe of cinders that hummed of ash and electricity
after dark they salt their shadows to keep the forgotten things out
dying worlds crack like beetle shells between her teeth
a beast the shape of a question yawns and reality forgets
what of the mad gods you ask: they melt into puddles at the edge of the void
