unfazed by the morning darkness the sparrow surveys its kingdom
conscious of your being your closeness in the darkness
summer the first drops of drizzle almost like fire
pleasure is the only dream that this flesh answers to
cold waves in orbit of your soft hips
thrill of the peril the flesh says more
in measured breaths we survive this summer night
dark before dawn counting the steps to oblivion
even death might a take a moment or two to appreciate the rain why won’t you
