are you not alive so breathe and be defiant
a gentle touch of lightning and the wails of dusk winds
veiled fingers of light trace and trail across summer fields
making sense of the magic that bleeds through the pale veil
soft shelled humans decaying in the light of the cold dusk
between the matted knots of leaves the darkness reimagined
beneath the arch of bent bodies the summer blood boils
race against the dying light to put out the fires of flesh
the rain at dusk minus the violence in our souls
