sleepy faces smothered by the mist at dawn
equinox crows murder what’s left of winter
over hot coffee we relive the tundra
this flesh the culmination of warmth and frost and empty
bodies ply the streets with the burden of winter’s past
the spring crow melts away in the rain outside
the world resets itself in the hours between winter and spring
the mist misbehaves never settling for flesh or tree
the forest calls and these feet bring the sand of seas
