a pill to invoke the illusion of freedom
imprisoned in a pint of pale ale neon lights
storm black claims the upper half of winter sky
stay as long as the lungs permit in the undersea quiet
a routine of wrestling limbs and finding warmth
the slow crawl of daylight through the grey
birdsong withers in the morning winds
this obsession with light has scarred the night
