echoes from the steel beams of bridge pigeons coo
after the ginko replaying the walk from memory
do you remember the beautiful face of night
turn off the lights and bask in the darkness
birdsong after dark taming the night
downtown warm bodies drifting in the autumn breeze
autumn dawn we wake with the gift of half sleep
cold water this frail body ripples and spasms
a rhythm away from nocturnal chaos
