the response is a sigh and touch night rain
approaching the sound of waves gunfire
tide break what’s left of humanity stranded
weather balloon the old gods frown with intent
swelter in silence train ride warmth
dusk the playground shadows stand witness
treating warmth like a precious commodity
at dawn we revise the prayer to fit our salvation
summer the battle long lost nature wins
