on this day my love and quietude saved you
you trade dreams for the touch of summer’s soil and birdsong
as the last light peels away silence arrives in full armour
the quiet seas deny us our borders: froth foam fathom
with warm limbs we bargain with a faceless storm
a spine chilling tale that vanishes even before it begins
summer clear sky stars hoard dangerous secrets
deep beneath soil the rootwork of unfinished gods
mistaken for prophecy every fire and flame hums a warning
