dusk the kingfisher’s cry rips through the bitter rain

tungsten
wrote this for a competition, didn’t make the cut though
read and enjoy!
i like, how tungsten sounds
on my tongue
the leathery rasp- of lips
as the tip ignites against teeth
you get three, she said
strike one: my skin is on fire
strike two: the world is on fire
i never made it to three
bodies red, convulse and collapse
my. turn. now. i said…
stay and let this land love you as did the other
tell me of the time you were loved by your land
tree amongst trees one remembers autumn where are you from my love
tomorrow will bring a soft shade of peach to tender lips
first light winged gods survey the landscape of flesh
the rain at dusk i applaud myself for existing
glass eyes revisit and learn in this state of surveillance
there i’ve said it a deficit of dreams the last few nights
