the rain reclaims its birthright: a landscape lost

paper plane launched into the summer grey

the concrete mist brings a message of maya

the caged bird’s disgust at paradise

illusion of ash clouds the disturbed mind

nowhere to go the pyre smoke snakes and plays

the caged bird screams and you say it sings

grey miasma strangely calming

light falls gently upon a body among bodies

all noon the jack hammer inside my head
