death rides the night tides

i trust you have forgiven yourself enough to love this city again
under layers of salt and blue a test of mortality
all shades of dark we speak the language of skin
do words simply shrivel up and die
do words get up when they fall
poison thyself
3am summer winds banging on the door
deeper dungeons shut off from the mind
otherworldly echoes in the concrete underbelly
