limbs refashioned to resemble the nightmare of trees at twilight

dusk we take refuge in the subtle calls of the sparrow
breach the flesh to save the soul only to find the nothingness gazing back
faint traces of a yearning to sleep out the horrors of this day
wake me when we regain some semblance of our humanity until then
autumn at dusk in the comfort of candles the words flow
wake to find the scars missing will you relearn to relive the life you imagined
under the fence over the hills and still the scars follow
emancipation works both ways: in freeing myself i free you from the shackles of society
if you should gaze deep enough you’ll find the contours of night
