dusk we piece together the bones of night the bonfire ablaze

you’re in my headspace an overdose of sea and salt
bare your bodies tonight the moon’s come to harvest skin and bone
barely enough room to breathe grey clouds amass
the yellow haze hangs over the autumn river gazing into her depths
the rather interesting conversation of warped trees, shadows and dusk crows
outside these walls i can hear the city the insatiable beast’s moans
pluck thoughts from thin air and serve them on a silver platter
the awkward silence in the air trying to read shallow minds
home for a little while until night steals us
