woken from deep sleep and feeling miles away from home
spring night the owl hoots to all but me
dear talking egg if the king’s men had any spine they wouldn’t fix you up
showoff pigeon i’d steal that stick and treat you to my cat
rain everywhere else but nothing on us the cruelty of divine humor
bite down hard on the animal instinct to chase after storm clouds
curled up correlations of this spring morning the millipede and stick
mind’s horizon the evening sun burnt into memory
overcast above and garden snails bowed in prayer
