patch back into this system of misty trees and bare bodies
for a moment the heart is stilled by the peace
an exchange of barely breathable gases at the evening table
this summer so far in a few heartbeats: dup dup doom
peek from under the covers to find the rain staring at us
light end dead tunnel despair quiet freedom dark cold peace
running from the pain of starting again farther away from the light
the odd electric in the air all over again that summertime madness
the storm outside every drop consumes the soul
