at dusk feet deep in cold fires

come autumn the world still burns

rain’s rhythm baby hands play the metal rail

storm dark under covers we regain our humanity

morning rain an end to the blazing night

for old times sake a sip of night’s indigo

where humans used to live family of spiders build a web of lies

so dark it hurts purple bruised sky

after dark cat shadow and i the silence grows
