the quiet before the noise we take for granted
before dawn an old god sleeps with eyes open
crunch soil and disturb the seaside silence
shipyard ghosts cranes frozen in motion
approaching ripples shadows skim surface
scattered crows now gather and scheme
light beneath the door enough to hold hope
night’s little devils stealing the silence
humans are no fun summer realisation
