chewed bone on sidewalk the city the sleeping beast
wading through another’s dream not mine not now
empty boats sing and sway and entice the cold heart with adventure
barely here in the subway our minds halfway down the rabbit hole
dry out my soul in neon lights waking to the warmth
mynahs tussle mid flight fighting winter winds and talons
in the city of greed we pocket what warmth we can find
balloon pop the oriole vanishes into the sun
the winter crow renounces all worldly ties
