we return the frost and city to the night
dressed in white how do you tell the living from ghosts
disturbed by neon lights songbirds singing late into the night
void deck funeral the living celebrate the dead
the night crow’s cry fingers fumble with the keys
buried under a sky of fire in our shell scrapes
cupping the cat’s face still pale blue his eyes
the slow and serene darkening of sky and skin
closing the circuit of limbs electric in the air
