merciful fires gather at the back of my head
snakes its way from nether to spine to nape
lessons from nature: truth, patience and freedom
dewlap expands and contracts red giant throbs
a red sun is birthed from anole’s dewlap
sparks fall into summer bay ripples
sea moons and the tidal silence
cherry winds at dawn
dreams devoured we curse the summer heat
