waking humanity drilling into concrete
eyelid prison the trouble with dust and sleep
in a voice loving the wind soothes the rage
crawl back across the tempest of sharp sand
night’s rain the full moon readies her body
the quiet before the noise we take for granted
before dawn an old god sleeps with eyes open
crunch soil and disturb the seaside silence
shipyard ghosts cranes frozen in motion
